Introduced to Colombia in 2008, Java is a natural mutation of Typica, renowned for its unique cup profile featuring bright acidity, floral notes and a clean, sweet finish.

Java is valued for combining resilience with exceptional cup quality. It offers an elegant alternative to Gesha, with bright acidity, floral notes and a clean, sweet finish, while showing strong tolerance to common coffee diseases. This resilience makes it sustainable for smallholder farmers.

Planted at Jardines del Edén in 2019 and later at Jardines del Encanto, Java has delivered consistently impressive results. Only ripe cherries are hand-picked, carefully sorted and gently fermented for 45 hours before slow drying on raised beds, creating a vibrant cup.
