The Rubirizi washing station is part of the Akawa Project, which was established to support coffee farmers in Burundi escape poverty in a sustainable and economically viable way.

The project finances the UTZ certification of the washing stations, which puts a large focus on sustainable farming practices, improving working conditions, and helps producers generate more income for their coffee overall.

We loved this coffee so much that we wanted to showcase it as a single origin. We believe in everything the Akawa Project stands for, and we are excited to continue to support the initiative and the fantastic producers at source.
