Tatu Estate, Ruiru, Kiambu County, Kenya (Washed)
The prestigious coffee farm, Tatu Estate lies approximately 25 km from the capital city of Nairobi. Deep red volcanic soil on the vast rolling plains, which are common to the area, provide excellent growing conditions for the coffee here.
The coffee cherries undergo the wet processing method, where the coffee is pulped, fermented and soaked before being laid to dry on raised beds in the sun. Water used is always re-circulated to ensure the most economical water consumption.
The estate is UTZ, Rainforest Alliance and 4C certified, which means there are annual audits, and that the estate adheres to a strict set of standards surrounding farming sustainability and working conditions.
